The Outing

They began to run towards the dinosaurs. "Don't run," called Mrs May. "The dinosaurs won't go away." (p.13) Today, I read "The outing". The children went to the zoo. But when they arrived it, it started rain. So they went to the museum. They saw fossil dinosaurs, pictures of them and went to the shop. They had a fun time. THE BRAVEST DOG EVER The True Story of BALTO

But soon the wind began to blow hard.The air is colder.A blizzard is coming!It was one of the worst storms ever.Still the race went on.Somehow each dog team made it to the next stop. (p.23) Today, I read  "THE BREAVEST DOG EVER The True Story of BALTO". One cold winter day in Nome, the children got very sick. Their sickness was terrible that it would die the children and many people in Nome, too. They need medicine, but the hospital which had the medicine was 800 miles long away. So Nome's mayer spoke over the radio and asked people for a dog-sled relay to bring the medicine to Nome. Gunnar and his dog, Balto and his dog team joined the relay. But on there way to Nome, they had a snowdrift and they almost fell down the river. Can they bring the medicine? Balto's feets were almost frozen, but he kept running on the snowy way. The Great Tulip Trade

Anna didn't move."I will not trade my very last birthday tulip. It is a gift from my father. That makes it worth more to me than anything else." (p.45) Today, I read "The Great Tulip Trade". Anna lived in Holland. One day, Anna's father let her have eight tulips from the ground because that was Anna's eighth birthday. She chose them and she planted them in a window box. Soon,  a farmer came and saw the tulips. He asked Anna to trade the tulips. In Holland, tulips were worth at that time. At first, she said no. But a farmer said he would give two lambs, a cow and a puppy. Finally, she gave him two tulips. After that, another people came and asked her to trade the tulips with their belongings… At last, she didn't give the last one even she can trade it with gold. The Ugly Ducking

"Why are you so shy?" he asked."Because I am ugly," said the ugly ducking.The swan laughed, "Have you looked in a mirror lately?" (p.12-13) Today, I read "The Ugly Ducking". One day, five duck was hatched, but one of them was ugly. So he was bullied by other duck. He left there, but again, he was bullied by different birds. He was ashamed that he was ugly, and lived lonely and sadly for along time. But one day, a swan told him he wasn't ugly. Before he knew, he became a beautiful swan! Then, he had a very good time. This is a famous fairy tale. But, although I must have read this when I was little , I forgot the story. I wonder why. Vocabulary ugly:醜い、悪い、不快な Findley V.(2006). The Ugly Ducking :Scholastic

Cinderella

Just then, Cinderella came into the room. "Will you please try on this shoe?" asked the prince. Cinderella nodded. The shoe fit perfectly! At last, he had found the girl from the ball. (p.14-15) Today, I read "Cinderella". One day, Cinderella was cast a spell and dressed up, and she went to the ball. She had a good time with the prince. But, she was so fun that she forgot the time limit of the magic. She left quickly, and she dropped a glass shoe. The princed picked it up, and determined he would marry the person who lost it. I knew Cinderella, but I didn't know clearly about the latter half of the story. So I was happy to know that, and it was a good ending. The Three Little Pigs

When the wolf came down the chimney, he landed right in the pot. "OUCH! OUCH! OUCH!" he yelled. Then, quick as a wink, he dashed out the door and ran far, far away. (p.14-15) Today, I read  "The Three Little Pigs". Three little pigs built their houses. One pig made it with straw, another pig made it with wood and another pig made it with bricks. But wolf came, and he blew the house of straw and house of  wood. He also tried to blew the that of bricks, but he failed. So he went into the house from the chimney. But he landed on the hot pot and ran away. This book is interesting, and recently, I watched this of Disney short film. That was also interesting. The Go-kart Race

Chip looked at the broken go-karts.He had an idea. He told Mum what the idea was. "What a brilliant idea!" said Mum. The mums and dads made a new go-kart out of two.  (p.15-16) Today, I read "The Go-kart Race". Biff's and Wilma's family made a go-kart. Wilma raced with Anneena, but both go-kart crashed. Then, they made one go-kart out of the two (crushed go-kart). And with this,they entered the go-kart race. What was the result…? Although  the story was short, it was exciting. The Lost Key

The next day, Wilf and Wilma came to the house with Nadim and Anneena. The children were sorry about the key. It still wouldn't glow and they were all very sad. (p.28)  Today, I read "The Lost Key". One day, Kipper lost the magic key. It was thrown away, hit to a man, sold and painted, but finally, he found it. However, the key didn't glow. Which means the key doesn't take to adventures. What the children can do? This time, they didn't go to an adventure with the key but they had a trip to find the key. It's necessary for this series! Vocabulary glow:光を放つ、白熱する Hunt R.(1987). Paris Adventure

The Children turned the torch upside down. "what does it look like to you?" asked Anneena. "It looks like the Eiffel Tower," said Biff. (p.21-22) Today, I read "Paris Adventure". Four children were took back in time by the magic key. they were in Paris and they saw a competition. And they found … the Eiffel Tower!" But it was like a torch. Christmas Adventure

Father Christmas hadn't put up his decorations. "I've been too busy. It's the same every year," he said. Father Christmas had no Christmas dinner. "I didn't have time," he said. "Children want so many presents." (p.16-17) Today I read "Christmas Adventure". The five children went to Father Christmas's house. He has been too busy to celebrate his own Christmas. So, the children helped and give him a good Christmas. Yeah, Father Christmas seems very busy, I think. So that time with children was must be very fun to him. The Shiny Key

Wolf Fables

He found a sheepskin under a tree. An idea popped into the wolf's head. Perhaps he could dress up as a sheep and join the flock! What a clever disguise! The shepherd would never guess. The wolf could eat the sheep one by one without anyone knowing.(p.6-7)  Today, I read "Wolf Fables ".Literally, this book has three stories related to wolf. And, every stories have moral of the tale. Wolfs are often written as a cunning character. One of this book's story, a wolf succeeded in tricking other animal. Time passes fast

Hi, how are the things? As I wrote in the title, time passes fast. In addition, next week, I'll have the test.  I "know" I have to study, but important thing is "do". In my case, It takes some time to start and to let myself go. College's test might be difficult, so I'll study hard and get good score.

VAL'S DIARY

Dad's happy here in the country. I don't understand it all. I think it's boring. There's nothing to do and nobody to talk to. Dad's crazy! (p.21) Today, I read "Val's Diary." On Val's birthday, her family moved to greenhill, where was the country.  She prefered city to country, so she wasn't happy about that. How's it going?

Hi, everyone, how are things? Recently, I bought a new bicycle . This  is for attend to school. There is a slope way in my way to the school, so I bought a sporty one. Until now, I've only ridden  cheap bikes, so this is very comfortable and need less power to ride. I think I made a good shopping.

Brass Band Contest

Last Sunday, I had a brass band contest. What I practiced for a long time will be shown in only 12 minutes. I didn't make a big mistake and I thought  I performed well. So, what was the result…? YES! We got a gold prize. I was really pleased and shared happiness with the member. I think I would never forget this day.
