Mystery in London

"You are sitting in your house in London, one cold November evening. There is a knock at the door. It is Inspector Freewell of the London police." (p. 1)   It's 1898, and you are a detective in London. You are asked for help to arrest the Whitechapel killer, who has killed six women and another woman recently. You started a search, but there are many options. Who will you ask and which place will you go? Can you arrest him?  Mystery in London is a detective story, and readers can choose action in this book. And your decision will change the story. I made it through to reach a good ending at once, but if you choose the wrong way, the ending won't be fine. I enjoyed reading it. Brooke, H. (2007). Mystery in London.  Oxford University Press.

"Len says, 'I don't like you, Blane. I don't want your money. But Carmen is in trouble. She needs help. I'll help her.'" (p. 7)  Lenny Samuel is an L.A. detective. One day a man called Frank came to his office and he took Len to Mr. Blane by force. Mr. Blane is a rich and also a bad man. Recently, his daughter, Carmen has been kidnapped and the suspect demanded a ransom, so he asked Len to save Carmen. Len doesn't like Mr. Blane, but he agreed to help his daughter.   This book is the story of a detective, and I was surprised to the story. In the end, the position of client and suspect exchanged. In fact, the suspect is a very nice person, and the kidnapping was the plan to punish Mr. Blane. I felt it was a short but good story. Prowse, P. (1993).  L.A. Detective . Macmillan Heinemann ELT.

"Ray buys the guitar. He has no money now, but he is very happy. He does not tell his mother and father." (p.7) Ray was watching his friends playing in their band. He thought he wants to join it, but he doesn't have a guitar. On his birthday, he asked his father to buy a guitar to him, but his father didn't permit it, so Ray decided to use all of his money and buy a guitar. He was very happy, but after that, he had many troubles...  After I read this book, I felt sorry for Ray because he spent all of his money and he got a guitar at last, many accidents happened to him and his guitar. That's the sad, but I felt funny of the story. Waring R.& Jamall M.(2006) The New Guitar . Boston, Thomson ELT.
