But soon the wind began to blow hard.The air is colder.A blizzard is coming!It was one of the worst storms ever.Still the race went on.Somehow each dog team made it to the next stop. (p.23)

Today, I read  "THE BREAVEST DOG EVER The True Story of BALTO". One cold winter day in Nome, the children got very sick. Their sickness was terrible that it would die the children and many people in Nome, too. They need medicine, but the hospital which had the medicine was 800 miles long away. So Nome's mayer spoke over the radio and asked people for a dog-sled relay to bring the medicine to Nome. Gunnar and his dog, Balto and his dog team joined the relay. But on there way to Nome, they had a snowdrift and they almost fell down the river. Can they bring the medicine?
Balto's feets were almost frozen, but he kept running on the snowy way. I was surprised that this is a true story.

L.A. Detective

"Len says, 'I don't like you, Blane. I don't want your money. But Carmen is in trouble. She needs help. I'll help her.'" (p. 7)  Lenny Samuel is an L.A. detective. One day a man called Frank came to his office and he took Len to Mr. Blane by force. Mr. Blane is a rich and also a bad man. Recently, his daughter, Carmen has been kidnapped and the suspect demanded a ransom, so he asked Len to save Carmen. Len doesn't like Mr. Blane, but he agreed to help his daughter.   This book is the story of a detective, and I was surprised to the story. In the end, the position of client and suspect exchanged. In fact, the suspect is a very nice person, and the kidnapping was the plan to punish Mr. Blane. I felt it was a short but good story. Prowse, P. (1993).  L.A. Detective . Macmillan Heinemann ELT.

The Red-headed League

It is your ordinary crimes which are really mysterious, just an ordinary face is the most difficult to identify." (p. 40)    One day, a red headed-man visited to Holmes's office. He asked him to detect the mysterious organization, "the red-headed league". The client was the member of it, but the league has closed suddenly. As Holmes surveyed this accident, he revealed that this relates to the big crime.  This is the story of Sherlock Holmes. This may be the first time that I read Holmes, but I enjoyed it, and I felt this story is very serious. I wondered that other Holmes's book are also like this story, so I want to read them more.
