The Coldest Place on Earth

Scott looked at him angrily. ‘This is stupid!’ he said. ‘It’s not a race! I came here to learn about the Antarctic- I’m not interested in Amundsen, or in races!’

In the summer of 1910, a black ship, the Terra Nova sailed from London. Robert Falcon Scott was the captain of this ship, and they were going to the South Pole. They would be the first men at the South Pole if they arrived there. However, after that,  Ronald Amundsen who is a Norwegian explorer competed with this. He said he will win the race of South Pole. Scott got upset when he heard about this because his object was research, not the arriving the South Pole itself. Consequently, they competed each other, and who will be the first person who has arrived at the South Pole?
