Holly the Eco Warrior

She turned back to the house, picked up Eco, and waved goodbye. Then she climbed up the rope ladder and disappeared among the leaves and branches. A few moments later she pulled up the rope ladder... and she was safe. (p.14)
    Holly is a girl of ten years, and she always cares about the environment. One day, her father said he'll cut down the old oak tree in the garden and build a new office there. Holly liked the tree, so she got really upset. Then she decided to stay in the tree house on the oak tree in order to save it. However, a few days later, a disaster was approaching to Holly's house...
    It's the story of a girl who cares about the environment extremely. In the end, the book reached a happy ending. However, although the actions for the environment themselves are  good, a too stubborn mind cause many troubles, I think.

Mystery in London

L.A. Detective

"Len says, 'I don't like you, Blane. I don't want your money. But Carmen is in trouble. She needs help. I'll help her.'" (p. 7)  Lenny Samuel is an L.A. detective. One day a man called Frank came to his office and he took Len to Mr. Blane by force. Mr. Blane is a rich and also a bad man. Recently, his daughter, Carmen has been kidnapped and the suspect demanded a ransom, so he asked Len to save Carmen. Len doesn't like Mr. Blane, but he agreed to help his daughter.   This book is the story of a detective, and I was surprised to the story. In the end, the position of client and suspect exchanged. In fact, the suspect is a very nice person, and the kidnapping was the plan to punish Mr. Blane. I felt it was a short but good story. Prowse, P. (1993).  L.A. Detective . Macmillan Heinemann ELT.

The Red-headed League

"As a rule," said Holmes, "the stranger a thing seems the less mysterious it really is. It is your ordinary crimes which are really mysterious, just an ordinary face is the most difficult to identify." (p. 40)    One day, a red headed-man visited to Holmes's office. He asked him to detect the mysterious organization, "the red-headed league". The client was the member of it, but the league has closed suddenly. As Holmes surveyed this accident, he revealed that this relates to the big crime.  This is the story of Sherlock Holmes. This may be the first time that I read Holmes, but I enjoyed it, and I felt this story is very serious. I wondered that other Holmes's book are also like this story, so I want to read them more.
