Lucky Number

Charie has a dream. A goat comes into the house. the goat finds the ticket. The goat is eating the ticket.(p.14-15)


Have you ever gotten  lottery tickets? or have you ever had a dream of winning a lottery ticket? I have bought them several times, but of course, I haven’t won or even had a dream yet. I wonder how the my life will change if I win a lottery. This book tells about the story of a poor shoeshine boy. One day, he happened to get a lottery ticket. And that night, he had a dream of the winning number of the lottery ticket, but a goat ate the last three numbers. What were the numbers? Although there’s very little possibility of winning a lottery, I think I will buy them some day.

L.A. Detective

"Len says, 'I don't like you, Blane. I don't want your money. But Carmen is in trouble. She needs help. I'll help her.'" (p. 7)  Lenny Samuel is an L.A. detective. One day a man called Frank came to his office and he took Len to Mr. Blane by force. Mr. Blane is a rich and also a bad man. Recently, his daughter, Carmen has been kidnapped and the suspect demanded a ransom, so he asked Len to save Carmen. Len doesn't like Mr. Blane, but he agreed to help his daughter.   This book is the story of a detective, and I was surprised to the story. In the end, the position of client and suspect exchanged. In fact, the suspect is a very nice person, and the kidnapping was the plan to punish Mr. Blane. I felt it was a short but good story. Prowse, P. (1993).  L.A. Detective . Macmillan Heinemann ELT.

The Red-headed League

He asked him to detect the mysterious organization, "the red-headed league". The client was the member of it, but the league has closed suddenly. As Holmes surveyed this accident, he revealed that this relates to the big crime.  This is the story of Sherlock Holmes. This may be the first time that I read Holmes, but I enjoyed it, and I felt this story is very serious. I wondered that other Holmes's book are also like this story, so I want to read them more.
